Hi all ...

Well here is my problem. As some of you know I was running both Windows 98 and Windows XP off the same hard drive and was using Boot Magic to partition the drive. Well I was having trouble with my Norton Anti Virus and so deleted it and went to reload it but found that the CD was cracked and was unususable. So being clever [ yeah right ] I found my old copy of Norton 2000 and decided to load this instead. However when I reloaded it and it sequenced through the re-start I got a prompt saying that my boot drives had changed and if I didn't expect that to click repair. Well I had not expected that so I clicked repair and then rebooted. Tragic error on my part. Now my poor computer gets to the stage where it should say choose a hard drive but instead just sits there frozen. Obviously I have in error removed all boot drives and can not access my hard drive. I thought I would be clever and reload Windows 98 but it apparently has frozen in the NTFS part of the drive and will not accept Windows 98 files which are of course FTS. Now you are probably saying why don't you just reload Windows XP then. Well I would but my copy of XP is part of the manufacturer's disk and it clean sweeps the drive if windows is re-loaded.

My question to the floor is if I re-load a stand alone copy of Windows XP will I find all my data safe and secure on my hard drive ?

Meanwhile I have booted up my mother's computer which was left to me when she passed away last Februray. I desperately need help as my daughters 52,000 word novel is on the hard drive as well as my website. Needless to say until I fix this problem I am sleeping in the garage !!!!!! So as I said .... H-E-E-E-L-L-L-P-P-P-P

Cheers
