FD: "It's my argument, because I wrote about it in 1995 after my first eye-on examination there."

Both Legon and Krupp were on to this in 1995, so its not just your argument.

Legon wrote this in 1995:

"Still more surprisingly, in order to obtain a correlation with the bend in the line of the Belt stars, Bauval has been obliged to turn Orion upside-down, reversing the positions of the stars from north to south. Thus whereas Mintaka is offset to the north of a line joining Alnitak to Alnilam, the Third Pyramid is offset to the south of a line joining the Great Pyramid to the Second Pyramid. Although it has been argued that this inversion was deliberate, I do not believe that the pyramid-builders, who were acutely conscious of the natural orientations of the star-fields, would have conceived of such a representation; and for this reason alone I do not believe that a correlation between the Giza pyramids and Orion's Belt was intended." from JL's review of his 'The Orion Correlation and Air-Shaft Theories', Discussions in Egyptology 33 (1995), 45-56)

John Legon also wrote this:

"In several articles in Discussions in Egyptology [1], I argued against the Egyptological consensus that the shafts in Great Pyramid were star-shafts which had been directed by the builders towards certain stars of the northern and southern regions of the sky, and contended instead that they were air-shafts, perhaps actually functional in the case of the shafts leading from the King's Chamber, but more probably symbolic and serving for a hitherto little-known aspect of the funerary / Osirian cult."

Krupp was already on to this in 1995 as well:

"I first detected logical conflicts in "The Orion Mystery" in 1995, when I was writing "Skywatchers, Shamans, & Kings: Astronomy and the Archaeology of Power", and I described one of those contradictions-directional inversion-briefly in a section about pyramids in that book. I also offered a condensed presentation of the argument in the February, 1997, installment ("Pyramid Marketing Schemes") of my monthly column on astronomy and culture for "Sky & Telescope" magazine."
