If all the claims are correct, he seems to have been awfully busy. Finding the Ark of the Covenant ... bringing it back to England ... travelling to America ...

Here's a thought. He didn't take the Ark of the Covenant with him to America and leave it at a secret location somewhere in the Catskills - [en.wikipedia.org] - did he ... ?
