Of course that is true, so I didn't follow what you were asking.
The reason it's true is because the excavators don't have enough of anything of value to write up in a formal site report/monograph in most sites.
No hominin bones, no DNA, no unequivocal 14C dates, orphaned mixed assemblages with statistically too few artifacts to draw firm conclusions on and just pure imagination...so they have no other recourse than to blab to multi-topic publications (that don't specialize in anthropology) like Nature or Science for maximum publicity and shock value. And the editors are smart enough to know controversy sells copy even with thin equivocal evidence.

You can't write a site report based on just 3 artifacts (Paisley) at the lowest level or 1 in some cases: [www.flickr.com] and make a convincing case.

It is virtually impossible to find trillions of artifacts in the Old World and at the same time not find at least some non-controversial artifact sites in the New World.
Even Clovis has to struggle to find enough unequivocal sites to make a case. Out of some ca. 70 claims, only about 15 have met the accepted criteria.
