That was what happened when pompous illiterates thought they could measure a skull and determine it's ancestry. But the COE made errors also, a DNA worker (Merriwether) at the time suggested if the DNA results aren't successful the first time test again. The problem was, at the time, they couldn't get rid of the contamination, thus skulls were more fun to look at than failed DNA tests, so pompous won the day and it took another 20 years before the contamination problem was solved.
