It's not so much new information as much a new understanding.

there is much confusion between weathering and erosion and the various forms of both.

In my experience and ttbomk anomalous torrential rainfall can be far more damaging than sustained rainfall.

In addition recently worked Limestone is far more susceptible to such weathering than stone that has case hardened.

The timeline analysis that Colin Reader has laid out in a number of research papers demonstrates that each successive change on he plateau ie the creation of flat surfaces/ quarry pits/ ramps/ obstacles....created a helter skelter of outlets and channels of water flow,

This does not discount the additional effects of salt exfoliation that have only complicated assessing clear cause and effect.

There is NO single denominator
