He enjoyed the give and take of debate. And was extremely good at giving better than he got.

I was benefit of more than one scathing retort.


after one of the most heated I received a private message from R Bauval assuring me that if I sat at a table with him, drinking beer, that he would thoroughly enjoy berating me in person.
