I'm not sure where you stand on this issue, though I'm with you that KV55 is Smenkhare, with some reservations of course. The tomb of Meryre II clearly shows his GRW to be Meritaten, and so Tutankhaten their son, and the Younger Lady to be Meritaten. But,as the tar grips and drags me down further, I think she is Beketaten, which throws a spanner in the works of Smenkhare and Meritaten being the parents of Tutankhaten, and no mention of what the DNA can mean yet. As Ralph in The Simpson's might say, "My head hurts".
Disputed succession sounds good, what with possibly an axe in the face and all the other weird stuff.
