Shouldn't we consider the "RED" discs above afterlife gods representative of Lunar eclipses?
A setting sun or rising sun is not red (sanguine) it is yellow/orange.
Red granite.
Lunar deities.
Red discs in annuls during certain reins.
Red discs in paintings containing yellow, gold and orange painted objects.
Heliopolis clergy.
Red hieroglyphs.
It has been established that the earliest calendars were Lunar in origin, and that feasts (festivals) were organized via Lunar cycles.
In the most accurate way the ancient artists exhibited objects and animals in their true color.
It's hard to imagine Lunar eclipses were not recognized and eventually predicted by scribes watching the night sky, such a profound occurrence must have made an impression.
Anyway just a thought.
