I'm impressed this new group pretty much has the physics and math right but miss the fact that mechanical advantage would be irrelevant on a job like this anyway. Indeed, due to the huge waste of lifting the weight of the crews MA would actually increase total work significantly.

They also missed the fact that turning radius wouldn't matter if stones were pulled up from above. Those "niches" would make great bases for horizontal A-frames that supported turning mechanisms (like pulleys?) on the ends.

At least they took two giant steps in the right direction.
