Hans (and Warwick), its just a simple way of explaining the geometry to you.

Nobody was supposed to measure it because the vertical rise can't be measured as its in solid stone.

The geometric architecture is quite sophisticated, and not easy to appreciate without a simple explanation.

As far as I know I'm the the first to explain the vertical and perpendicular height of the Grand Gallery.

I sketched the profile of the north end wall based on the measurements of Petrie and Smyth, and the intended vertical height appears to have been 468.5 digits.

I also sketched the perpendicular profile which appears to be 420 digits (15 cubits).

The profile length of the north end wall is exactly 504 digits, and I assigned the mid point a level of 50 cubit in my 2006 model, as published.

In about 2008 I noticed that the bottom of the sixth overlap coincides with the level where the side length of the pyramid is 365 cubits accurate to a small fraction of a digit, so the perimeter is 1460 cubits, as drawn in 2006.

Each and every level of the pyramid may be regarded as the circumference of a virtual circle conforming to the pi approximation 22/7.

Remarkably, the seventh overlap is missing so the sixth overlap is a conspicuous anomaly with a simple explanation:
There was a cycle of 1460 days in 4 calendar years, which was seen as 1 day short of 4 solar years, or perhaps 1460 calendar years 1 calendar year short of 1460 solar years, but there is no documentary evidence that the ancient Egyptians were aware of this cycle.

Archimedes determined upper and lower limits of the Pi ratio, and his upper limit was 22/7 which is a precise Pi ratio.

The ratio 22/7 is accurate to 1 part in in 2485, and may have been regarded as exact, but, like Petrie, I think there is evidence of a closer approximation to Pi, or at least that 22/7 was not exact.

(2484.475573)/(2485.475573)/ x 22/7 = 3.141592654 or pi to 8 decimal places

22/7 was chosen for a symbolic design.
