Good article. In 1994 in a visit to Giza I was caught in a thunderous Haboob followed up by a Khamsin of great force. It swept in over Giza from the NW-S and onto the plateau. It dumped a LOT of water which flowed with great force towards the Sphinx area (where I was). Quite impressive. The rain lasted only a few minutes but was followed by a billowing and dense sandstorm with 60 kph winds. Rather wrecked my tourism ideas for that day.
