The position of the modern streets is irrelevant to were the ancients built their structures. The city was inhabited from Neolithic times. Structures adjacent to the corner of Antigone and Pindaros streets date to the Early Helladic period(3200 - 2000 BC). The findings in this rectangular area of ruins date to all phases between the Early Helladic and the Byzantine period.
